At Ideal Fashion, we believe in helping women of all ages, shapes and sizes look their best! And we know that every woman goes through a fashion slump at some point in their lives. Whether you’ve developed a strict clothing routine or have let your wardrobe go, these are the signs you might need a wardrobe upgrade.
1. Your outfits are predictable
One of the best things about fashion and dressing ourselves is the ability to be creative and spontaneous with our looks from day to day. If you’ve boxed yourself into a routine where you always wear the same thing, it might be time for an upgrade. Consider breaking out your comfort zone and trying new looks for different events, whether it’s your workwear, a special occasion or date night.
2. Your clothes don’t fit
As we age, our bodies change, and few of us are the same size we were during our 20s. Getting married, having children and other life changes can also have a big impact on our bodies, and it’s natural for our weight to fluctuate. But your wardrobe should be a reflection of who you are now, and oversized, baggy clothing or too-tight jeans just don’t belong. Well-fitting clothing and dressing according to your size is important for maintaining confidence and if you’re uncomfortable in your clothes, that will show.
3. Your clothes are dated
When was the last time you went shopping? If you don’t remember, it’s probably time for an upgrade. While you may have loved fashion in the 80s or 90s, your clothing shouldn’t all be from that time period. There are ways to dress in a more modern way while still giving a nod to your favourite decade, but if you step out of your house looking like Madonna, it’s probably time for a change.
4. Your clothes are damaged or stained
It’s okay to have one or two items of clothing in your wardrobe that are past their best, whether for sentimental value or to wear when you’re painting a room in your home. Otherwise, your clothes should be in good condition. If that favourite top of yours has a stain in it that just won’t come out no matter what you try, it’s time to ditch it. And owning multiple items of clothing with holes in them means it’s time to replace them.
5. You wear pajamas to run errands
We don’t recommend dressing up in a ball gown to run everyday errands like grocery shopping, but wearing pajamas or baggy sweatpants when you leave the house is a no-no as well. How you dress yourself is a reflection of the care you take in yourself, and it really doesn’t have to take too much time. Throw on a nice fitting pair of jeans and a comfortable (not too big!) sweater, and you’re good to go. You’ll feel great about yourself, we promise!
